Team

President & CEO
Bob Walpert formed Walpert Properties in 1989 as President and CEO of the company and has propelled the organization into phenomenal growth, acquiring and developing several million square feet of shopping centers, multi-family and mixed-use projects in multiple states, concentrating on every facet of the portfolio. Prior to forming Walpert Properties, Bob began his career in 1980 with Leo Eisenberg and Company, and then the Midland Group. He has been on the board of the St. Louis Men’s Group Against Cancer for many years and has been active in many other organizations over the years including the Wellness Foundation and Jewish Federation of St. Louis. Bob attended the University of Missouri-Columbia and holds a Broker’s License in the State of Missouri. He and his wife Jennifer have 5 children and 3 grandchildren.
Managing Partner
Mike Hurwitz specializes in tenant representation, lease negotiation and acquisition and has been instrumental in helping some of the nation’s more aggressive retailers establish and expand their presence in the St. Louis market, including Starbucks Coffee in establishing their first 24 stores and Simply Fashions in their market entry. Mike has been involved in some of Walpert Properties largest retail acquisitions including Morse Centre and Northtowe Centre in Columbus, Ohio, totaling a combined 440,000 square feet. Tenants include Big Lots, Dollar Tree, Aldi, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Wendy’s and Jiffy Lube. He oversaw the development of a freestanding Walgreens in which he coordinated everything from the demolition of the existing shopping center to construction of the new building, to working with the highway department on a deceleration lane and flood plain issue to final walk thru and completion of the building. Mike led the St. Louis team that oversaw the development of the 93,000 square foot Creve Coeur Pavilion for an out of state owner. Tenants included St. Louis Bread Company, California Pizza Kitchen, Stir Crazy and AMC theaters. Mike is a graduate of the University of Missouri – Columbia. He is active in efforts in the Siteman Cancer Center and the Wounded Warrior Project. His interests include ice hockey and CrossFit training and is an Eagle Scout. Mike and his wife Tracy have 2 children and one grandchild. Missouri Brokers-salesperson license Mike holds a Missouri Brokers-salesperson license and has been a member of ICSC since 1991.
Director of Development
Kent Evans is a principal at Walpert Properties which recently developed a Walgreens and a 96 unit multifamily project. Currently the principals of Walpert are working on multifamily developments in Firestone, Colorado, Panama City Beach, Florida, and a large mixed use redevelopment of a regional mall in Crestwood, Missouri. Kent Evans previously worked for a residential and commercial developer for 16 years and ran the commercial real estate division, which included asset/property management of a 2 million square foot portfolio including retail, multifamily, office and industrial. Many of the buildings in the portfolio were developed to become part of the commercial portfolio and included; redeveloping a regional shopping center with Bass Pro Sportsman’s Warehouse as the anchor tenant, negotiating and constructing a variety of build-to-suits for the portfolio including a 14-screen theater, multi-tenant Class A office building(s) anchored by regional healthcare providers and others, and construction of industrial buildings for NNN clients. Many of these were redevelopments that utilized public and private partnership incentive programs such as TIF, TDD, CID, 353.
Chief Financial Officer
Bairie Nichols is the Chief Financial Officer for Walpert Properties and associated entities, and is responsible for all accounting and financial management functions of Company operations. Bairie initially joined Walpert Properties in 1997 after spending ten years with KPMG in public accounting and real estate finance. Bairie is a certified public accountant and holds both a bachelor’s degree in accounting and an MBA from Missouri State University. Bairie and his wife, Tracy, live in Ballwin and have a daughter and two sons.
Asset Manager
Stephanie Walpert joined the Walpert Properties team in 2017 to specialize in Asset Management, Leasing and Development. Her day-to-day responsibilities include site visits, lease negotiations, financial reporting, rent collections and vendor management. Prior to joining Walpert Properties, Stephanie spent six years in sales and management at a Chicago startup. A graduate of Arizona State University, Stephanie has a bachelor’s degree in Human Development and Sociology. She is a licensed real estate salesperson in the state of Missouri.
Asset Manager
Brandt Tichacek has been working in Commercial Real Estate in excess of 20 years, engaging in all aspects of the industry. Primarily focused on Property and Asset Management as well as Brokerage services ranging from multi-family buildings to office buildings, major big box shopping centers and retail strip centers. Brandt’s experience includes managing the overall physical asset(s) by; forecasting and managing budgets, developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs, property acquisitions, lease negotiations, rent collections, and managing escrow accounts on behalf of the owners. Brandt has extensive experience with managing construction services from white box projects to complete tenant finish to major commercial developments and introduces strategies to maximize the value of the real estate portfolio. Brandt holds Brokers licenses in Missouri and Illinois.
Property Administrator
Heather recently joined the team in September 2019 and is the Property Administrator for Walpert Properties. Heather has an extensive background in retail and customer service. After over ten years in Chicago; Heather, her husband and two young children moved to St Louis where she was born and raised.
Accounting Administrator
Lynn Kobe is an Accounting Administrator at Walpert Properties. She graduated Fontbonne University with a Business Degree with an emphasis in Finance. Lynn joined the company in 2017. In her current role, she handles all Accounts Payable duties, as well as assists with Accounts Receivables, Lease Administration and all the day-to-day tasks in the office.
Managing Partner
Jennifer Walpert is a Doctor of Chiropractic, maintained a successful private practice, and taught Orthopedic and Diversified Technique at Logan College of Chiropractic for 15 years. Dr. Walpert has always felt a calling to serve, whether it was as a Doctor of Chiropractic helping patients well being or as a mentor to students navigating the educational path. In addition, she is a mother to five children and a grandmother. She also joined her husband Bob in growing the commercial real estate portfolio.
Maintenance Technician
Mike Gurlin joined the team three years ago as the maintenance technician. He has been in the industry for over 10 years and knows every property inside and out. In his spare time, he loves to hunt, fish and enjoy the outdoors
